Mwanaisha is a committed community leader and researcher working at the intersection of climate, mental health, and gender-based violence in Nairobi’s informal settlements. As a facilitator with the Sauti Mashinani Research Lab and Anga Center, she supports community-based interventions aimed at reducing intimate partner violence and the psychological effects of climate change. She applies trauma-informed, ethical research practices in culturally grounded weekly sessions, collaborating closely with local teams to adapt and evaluate program effectiveness.
Mwanaisha also serves as a field agent, identifying vulnerable school dropouts and working with local leaders—including deputy county commissioners (DCCs), chiefs, and village elders—to develop sustainable solutions that help reintegrate these children into public schools.
She brings a strong foundation in community engagement, leadership, and basic computer skills through training at Redeemed Computer College. Her leadership experience includes roles such as Chairperson of Maendeleo ya Wanawake (Hospital Ward), Secretary of the Nairobi Women Lobby Group (ODM), and Assistant Secretary in Mathare Constituency. She has led youth-focused initiatives under the National Youth Service and conducted peer education on reproductive health and maternal wellness for young mothers and domestic workers.
In addition, Mwanaisha coordinates a school feeding program at Valley View Primary and leads women’s economic empowerment through local savings groups and SACCOs. Her work bridges grassroots action and policy engagement, driving inclusive, community-centered change.
