Dr. Theodore Frank Theodory is an environmental scientist focusing on climate change, adaptation, mitigation, and Natural Resources Management. He is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Mzumbe University, Tanzania. Dr. Theodory has taught in higher learning institutions in Tanzania for over 10 years. He has a wealth of experience in doing research and undertaking consultancy and outreach activities in the areas of climate change adaptation and mitigation, natural resources management, land investments, water resources governance, to mention the few. He offers expertise in areas of Resource Governance, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environment Auditing, Environmental monitoring, carrying out of feasibility studies, undertaking baseline survey, facilitating Strategic Plan development, and Project Monitoring and Evaluation. He teaches Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, Political Ecology, Project Planning and Management, Environmental Issues and Sociology, and Participatory Rural Appraisal.
Dr. Theodory’s current research is primarily focused on climate change and adaptation in Tanzania. He has been the PI on several research projects such as the climate smart futures in rural Tanzania funded by DANIDA; the future rural Africa project funded by DFG; and the community social water monitoring project funded by IOB Going Global. Being involved in these projects, he has been able to uncover many issues related to how climate change affects rural communities in different ways including shortages of water resources and food insecurity.
