Anna Wambua is an experienced community leader and passionate advocate for mental health, gender equity, and social justice in Nairobi’s informal settlements. Trained in Qualtrics, quantitative and qualitative research, and ethical protocols including HIPAA, vicarious trauma, and the CITI Conflict of Interest program, Anna is well-equipped to contribute to community-based research with integrity and care.

As a facilitator with the Sauti Mashinani Research Lab and Anga Center, she delivers mental health interventions aimed at reducing intimate partner violence. She completed a 10-day intensive training in ethical facilitation and applied intervention skills, working closely with research teams to ensure cultural responsiveness and participant safety. Her research focuses on the intersection of climate change, water insecurity, and gender-based violence in vulnerable communities.

Drawing from her own life experiences, Anna mentors both youth and young mothers, offering guidance, emotional support, and practical skills for resilience. She also brings hands-on knowledge from years of community engagement in Nairobi’s public markets, where she taught beadwork and knitting as part of women’s empowerment efforts.

Fluent in English and Swahili, Anna continues to be a strong advocate for community-led solutions and the well-being of marginalized populations.
