The Research Core leads collaborative studies that explore how climate change affects women’s health, safety, and well-being in East Africa’s most climate-vulnerable communities.

Research Core
We combine qualitative and quantitative methods, guided by community voices, to generate findings that inform policy, practice, and future research, ensuring knowledge is created with communities, not just about them.
Featured Projects
Rigorous and dynamic community-based participatory and citizen science research with 3000 community members funded by institutions such as the NIH and published in over 50 publications, including Nature Climate Change
Why This Matters
Climate change doesn’t affect everyone equally. Women in informal settlements often face intersecting risks — from extreme weather to violence — yet their experiences are underrepresented in research. Our work changes that.
